    Fluoride & Dental Sealants

    Dental Sealant Overview

    Overview

In order to decrease the risk of caries development, FLUORIDE is applied at regular dental cleanings for all children and some adults. High risk adult patients may also be prescribed fluoride for at-home use.

DENTAL SEALANTS are composite coatings in the grooves of the back permanent teeth (molars and premolars). They work best if placed right after these teeth have erupted, before any stains or caries have formed. The deeper the groove, the more susceptible the area is to caries.

Benefits of Fluoride & Dental Sealants

Fluoride and dental sealants act as protective barriers for your teeth. They coat the surface, stopping bacteria from lingering in the grooves and creating decay. Primary benefits of fluoride and dental sealants include decay prevention, oral protection, and maintenance of a healthy smile.

    Fluoride and Dental Sealants Approach

    Our Approach

At BK Dental, we apply sealants the same way as we do composite fillings – we bond the sealants for long-term stability. This procedure is non-invasive and non-toxic. While fluoride and dental sealants are available for all ages and situations, they are most effective in young children, during the first 1 – 2 years after eruption.
