Understanding orofacial myology

Orofacial myology is the study of the mouth and face muscles, which affect speech, swallowing, and chewing. Abnormal functioning of these muscles can lead to orthodontic, breathing, speech, and TMJ problems. It is essential to get a proper diagnosis of the condition from Dr. Kaltchev and our team. Once diagnosed, our team can then determine the best course of action.

Orofacial myology treatment at BK Dental

Facial development and jaw and teeth position are influenced by tongue function, breathing, eating, and postural habits. Dr. Kaltchev is interested in and has training in early facial development and orthodontic treatment. If you would like to know more about facial development, including jaw expansion, bite correction, and snoring in children, please request an appointment with Dr. Boris Kaltchev and his team at BK Dental in Wood Dale or Evanston, Illinois.

Our approach to helping those with orofacial problems

At BK Dental, Dr. Kaltchev develops an individual treatment program for each patient. The program includes specific orthotic and orthodontic appliances and orofacial myology exercises to perform each day at home. This program will correct many of the problems and dramatically improve your quality of life.
